Coldplay (Alternative rock)

Οι Coldplay είναι ένα Βρετανικής καταγωγής alternative rock συγκρότημα που δημιουργήθηκε στο Λονδίνο, Αγγλία το 1998. Το συγκρότημα περιλαμβάνει τον vocalist/pianist/guitarist Chris Martin τον lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, τον bassist Guy Berryman, και τον drummer/multi-instrumentalist Will Champion. Οι Coldplay έχουν πουλήσει πάνω από 50 εκατομμύρια δίσκους και είναι πολύ γνωστοί από τα hit singles τους "Yellow", "The Scientist", "Clocks", "Speed of Sound", "Fix You" and "Viva la Vida".

Έγιναν παγκοσμίως γνωστοί με την κυκλοφορία του single "Yellow" και έπειτα με το πρώτο τους album, Parachutes (2000) που ήταν υποψήφιο για το Mercury Prize. Η κυκλοφορία του δεύτερου album τους A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002) κέρδισαν πολλά βραβεία όπως το NME's Album of the Year. Η επόμενη κυκλοφορία ήταν το, X&Y (2005) που έλαβε λιγότερο ενθουσιασμό από το κοινό αλλά γενικά είχε θετικά σχόλια.

Το τέταρτο album του συγκροτήματος Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), παραγωγή του Brian Eno όταν κυκλοφόρησε γνώρισε σε μεγάλο βαθμό ευνοϊκά σχόλια, κερδίζοντας επιπλέον και πολλές υποψηφιότητες για Grammy. Όλα τα album των Coldplay έχουν γνωρίσει μεγάλη εμπορική επιτυχία.
