Οι Μadrugada προκάλεσαν αίσθηση και μπήκαν σχεδόν βίαια στην μουσική ζωή μας, με το LP "Industrial Silence" του 1999, με το οποίο ήδη είχαν ανεβεί στην κορυφή των νορβηγικών συγκροτημάτων. Στην χώρα τους ήρθε και η πρώτη αναγνώριση του ταλέντου τους μέσω της βράβευσης τους με το νορβηγικό βραβείο καλύτερου ροκ συγκροτήματος του 1999.

Για τον υπόλοιπο μουσικό κόσμο, ήταν η μεγάλη έκπληξη, ξέρετε από αυτές που ξεπετάγονται από το πουθενά κι όμως έχουν τόσα πολλά να πουν.

Υπάρχουν ως συγκρότημα από το 1995. Το πρώτο τους όνομα ήταν Abbey's Adoption, ενώ το "Madrugada" ως όνομα το έχουν από το 1998 και αποτελεί επιλογή τους μέσα από μια σειρά ονομάτων που τους πρότειναν φίλοι, λίγο πριν υπογράψουν στην Virgin.

Aπό τα πρώτα δείγματα προκύπτει το συμπέρασμα προσκόλλησής τους στον underground ροκ ήχο, αυτόν που δεν λογίζεται πλέον ως χιλιοπαιγμένος και κατ'επέκτασην τετριμμένος. Αυτό το πολύ σπουδαίο χαρακτηριστικό νομίζω ότι αρκεί για να τους κατατάξει σε υψηλή θέση στις προτιμήσεις αυτών που αγαπούν την γνήσια και καθαρή ροκ εκδοχή της μουσικής.
Το όνομα τους προέρχεται από την ισπανική ομώνυμη λέξη που σημαίνει "αυγή", ενώ γενικά φέρνουν μια πολυεθνική διάσταση ως συγκρότημα. Νορβηγοί, με ισπανικό όνομα, αμερικάνικο (κυρίως) και βρετανικό ήχο. Να μην ξεχάσω να τονίσω στην "πολυεθνικότητα" τους, ότι μετά την πατρίδα τους, η Ελλάδα ήταν η δεύτερη χώρα που αναγνώρισε την αξία τους.

Ένα τραγικό γεγονός γεγονός χτύπησε το συγκρότημα το 2007, το βράδυ της Πέμπτης 12 Ιουλίου βρέθηκε νεκρός στο διαμέρισμα του στο Oslo o Robert Burås (31 ετών) κιθαρίστας των Madrugada (και των My Midnight Creeps). Τα αίτια του θανάτου του δεν έχουν γίνει ακόμα γνωστά στο κοινό.
Μετά τον θάνατο του του Burås ο Sivert Høyem και ο Frode Jacobsen αποφάσισαν να ολοκληρώσουν την ηχογράφηση του τελευταίου album τους προς τιμήν του Burås.
Το album με τίτλο Madrugada, κυκλοφόρησε στις 21 Ιανουαρίου, 2008. Μετά την κυκλοφορία του, το συγκρότημα ανακοίνωσε ότι θα διαλυθεί μετά από μια τελευταία συναυλία, το οποίο και έγινε στις 15 Νοεμβρίου 2008 στο ‘’Oslo Spektrum ‘’ στο Όσλο, Νορβηγία.

Øyafestival, Όσλο, 8 Αυγούστου 2007. Μέλη από τις μπάντες του Robert Burås(1975-2007) Madrugada και My Midnight Creeps μοιράστηκαν τη σκηνή με τον Kjartan Kristiansen (DumDum Boys) και τον Emil Nikolaisen (Serena Maneesh).
Έπαιξαν το εξαιρετικό κομμάτι "Don't Let It Bring You Down" των My Midnight Creeps και μερικά άλλα φανταστικά τραγούδια μαζί, όπως "Running Out of Time", "Kids Are On High Street" και οι My Midnight Creeps τα "Don't Let It Bring You Down" και "I'll Let The Light Shine On You."
Ο Sivert Høyem ήταν ο leadsinger κατά τη διάρκεια αυτής της συναυλίας 'φόρο τιμής' στο δυστυχώς αποθανόντα κιθαρίστα, τραγουδιστή και τραγουδοποιό Robert Burås.
