Ο Μάικλ Τζόζεφ Τζάκσον, γεννημένος στις 29 Αυγούστου του 1958 στο Γκάρι της Ιντιάνα, είναι Αμερικανός μουσικός, τραγουδιστής, χορευτής, τραγουδοποιός και παραγωγός. Θεωρείται μια από τις μεγαλύτερες προσωπικότητες στην ιστορία της μουσικής και του θεάματος.




Άρχισε τη σταδιοδρομία του ως τραγουδιστής της Motown με το συγκρότημα Jackson 5 (αποτελούμενο από τα αδέλφια Jackson), στα τέλη της δεκαετίας του '60 και στις αρχές της επόμενης δεκαετίας. Ενώ ήταν ακόμη μέλος των Jackson 5, το 1971 ξεκίνησε τις πρώτες σόλο ηχογραφήσεις του στην ίδια εταιρία το 1971. Το 1975 το συγκρότημα αποχώρησε από τη Motown και εντάχθηκε στο δυναμικό της Epic αλλάζοντας το όνομα σε Jacksons. Ο Τζάκσον άρχισε ουσιαστικά τη σόλο σταδιοδρομία του το 1979 με τον δίσκο Off the Wall (τυπικά αποχώρησε από τους Jacksons το 1987).
