White Stripes (Alternative Rock)

Οι White Stripes είναι ένα αμερικάνικο ροκ συγκρότημα από το Ντιτρόιτ. Αποτελείται από τον Τζάκ Γουάιτ (φωνή. κιθάρα) και την Μεγκ Γουάιτ (τύμπανα), οι οποίοι δηλώνουν αδέρφια, αν και στη πραγματικότητα πρόκειται για χωρισμένο ζευγάρι. Ένα ιδιαίτερο χαρακτηριστικό του συγκροτήματος είναι το ότι στη συντριπτική πλειοψηφία των τραγουδιών χρησιμοποιεί μόνο κιθάρα και τύμπανα.



Το συγκρότημα σχηματίστηκε το 1997. Το 1999 κυκλοφόρησε ο πρώτος δίσκος του, με τίτλο το όνομα του συγκροτήματος και το 2000 το De Stijl, το δεύτερο άλμπουμ τους. Η πρώτη μεγάλη επιτυχία ήρθε με το White Blood Cells το 2001 και το 2003 κυκλοφόρησε το Elephant, που γνώρησε μεγάλη εμπορική επιτυχία παγκόσμια. Στις 7 Ιουνίου του 2005 κυκλοφόρησε το Get Behind Me Satan που γνωρίζει επίσης επιτυχία.

Οι White Stripes έδωσαν δυο συναυλίες στις 12 και 13 Ιουλίου του 2005 σε Θεσσαλονίκη και Αθήνα αντίστοιχα. Η συναυλία στην Αθήνα κράτησε μόλις μισή ώρα και διακόπηκε λόγω του δυνατού αέρα που φυσούσε, και έκανε τον Τζακ να ανησυχήσει ότι τα φώτα θα κατέρρεαν πάνω στη σκηνή.
